Installation of a Portable Spa
Support – Portables
The spa must be placed on an approved level surface. A reinforced concrete slab (min 150mm) is recommended. Some steel reinforcement should be left exposed to allow the electrician to bond the spa to the concrete slab.
Consult a qualified structural engineer, if you are unsure of the foundations (e.g for installations on decks or possibly unstable earth).

Access (to all sides of the spa)
Access must be provided to all four sides of the spa for servicing. Make sure there are no obstructions and a minimum of 500mm, preferably 700mm, is clear on all sides. There must be sufficient spa for a service person to work in a safe environment.
Additional information:
-
Spa cannot go into the ground. The concrete slab must be at ground level or higher.
-
Spa must not be installed where water is able to collect around it (e.g in a pit or below ground level).
-
Water must drain away immediately.
-
Permanent removal of cabinet doors is not permitted under any circumstances.
Note: Any damage caused to the spa / pool due to incorrect installation is not covered under warranty.
Electrical Connections
All standard portable spas require a new separate, dedicated electrical connection.
An electrical wire must be installed from the switch board directly to the spa.
Amperage required for Spa Pools is typically 15- 40 amps; and 32-75 amps for Swim Spas. (Depends on model chosen)
An additional 2 x 10 amp power points are required if a gas heater and ancillary pump are being installed. (it is recommended a timer be supplied by the electrician).
Gas Connections
Gas heaters must be installed on a non-combustible surface. There are special requirements for indoor installations. A new gas line is usually required and is pressured to suit typically between 120 Mj – 175 Mj
